WestFax Brewing Company

We love beer, beer is our passion and we want to share it with you.  Mosey on down to the west side and stop by the tap room, have some pints or maybe just a couple of tasters but either way we hope you enjoy it.

Our delicious suds and laid back atmosphere hits the spot after a hard day’s work or for some weekend fun.  Our goal is to provide a cool place for you all to hang out and enjoy beer.

We are on West Colfax Ave in the city of Lakewood, right next to the infamous Casa Bonita restaurant.  Head west, follow the setting sun and you'll find us here serving up great beer in a great location.

About Our Founder | Anthony Martuscello

Get to know the story behind WestFax Brewing Company's founder, Anthony Martuscello, his passion for beer and vision for opening up a brewery in Lakewood, CO.

Where are you from?
Hammondsport, NY (Finger Lakes Region of NY)

When did you start brewing beer?
I started homebrewing in 2007 when I was living in Northeastern PA

What made you want to open WesFax and why'd you choose the west side of Denver?
I think first it was the fact that I fell in love with beer and brewing it.  I loved being able to change my recipe, and process in order to achieve totally different but still delicious flavors.   Secondly, I worked for three really big companies and although I was successful there were many things that bothered me about working for them. I wanted my autonomy and I wanted to create something that was mine.

What was the "aha moment" of deciding to create WestFax?
I don’t know I there was one “aha moment” I had been working on the “business model” and business plan for a long time but I don’t know if I ever really was 100% committed because of the security and safety of my corporate job.  What made me actually decided to pull the trigger was when my boss was let go from the last company I worked for.  I felt like it was unethical and scapegoat type of decision and it pushed me over the edge with that company. This was confirmation for me to go after my dream of starting a brewery.

What's the most rewarding thing about owning a brewery?
When a customer or friend tries our beer or comes to our taproom and says “that is a great beer” or “this is a great place, I’ll be back”  Aside from that is great to work for myself, we have a long way to get where we want to be but the hard work is paying off and I believe it will continue to do moving forward.

What's been your favorite beer you've made so far?
I really enjoy our Save the Pales Series.  It’s a series of pale ales, where we rotate the hop combinations used in the beer.  It's supper bright and refreshing without being overbearing like some IPAs can be.

How do you feel that WestFax connects/supports the Lakewood community?
We are involved with multiple community organizations like the West Colfax Community Association (WCCA), 40 West Arts District, and West Colfax Business Improvement District.  We also participate in many city events and functions, for example we pour our beer at the Sound Exciting Summer Concert Series and other events that are held at Belmar Park.  I think the local community and City of Lakewood have welcomed us with open arms and we are very grateful for that so we want to participate in as many organizations and events as we can.

10 years from now, what is WestFax going to be like?
Full of tanks and other equipment, maybe we’ve taken over some additional space in the center or at another location.  Our taproom being full of happy customers having a great time enjoying great beer.  I’d like our brewery to be known throughout Colorado and the region and synonymous with great beer.

Why would someone come to your brewery vs any other?
First of all for great beer.  Our beer quality is very important to us and we want it to also be important to our customers.  Secondly, because our taproom is a fun place to hang out with friends.

What's your favorite beer?
I don’t know if I have ever had a “favorite” beer.  Odell IPA has been a go to beer for me since I moved to CO back in 2010.  I also really enjoy Pivo Pils from Firestone Walker.  Lately, I think I find myself always looking to try new breweries and beers, I guess you can call it research.
